Essie Mirror Metallics Collection!

Today I bring you the Essie Mirror Metallics collection!! I have to start out first by saying way to go Essie!! I truly love this collection! They are just rocking it this year!

When I first saw these in the store I grabbed three of the, oh man was it hard to pick only three! haha! After I tried the first, I had to go back and get the remaining two!

I really like the formula of these, they are very easy to work with and dry fairly quickly. Also, these are opaque in just one coat. The final finish is slightly streaky but not extremely obvious - though of my other metallic lacquers, I really haven't seen one with a completely streak-free finish. A little bit of patience and careful application and you can avoid it for the most part.

What makes this collection so awesome is that they work wonderfully for stamping as well! Being that they are opaque in one coat and dry a little quicker they are a breeze to stamp with! I will have to share this in a later post!

So, on with the photos!

Blue Rhapsody
I really love this shade of blue! Its not super bold and bright, but its also not too light and faint.

Good As Gold
A light gold - I like that this isnt a gleaming yellow gold - this one feels a little more subtle to me

No Place Like Chrome
Another great silver to add to any collection! This one isn't as flashy and bright as some others.

Nothing Else Metals
This one is a ligh pinkish-purple shade, I really like this one as well, for the same reason as the blue. Its not bold and flashy.

Penny Talk
Copper! I really love that they included a copper in this collection - and its a wonderful shade at that! I feel like there aren't enough good copper shades out there

What are your favorite shades from this collection?

I really cannot wait to see what else Essie comes up with later this year!!

Challenge mani - Inspired by a Song

I am a bit behind updating with photos from the 31 Day challenge - and I am working on catching you all up!

This was day 22 of the challenge - Inspired By: A Song. As a big Beatles fan -I choose HELP!

I used:
Essie - Chinchilly
Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black
NYC Matte Me Crazy

I learned that with using the nail art pens - that they draw much easier on a matte vs anything glossy. So I topped the grey with the matte coat, drew on my little dudes, and then topped it again to protect the art and give it an even matte coat.

Day 20 - Water Marbled! ANOTHER first!

This challenge has been a lot of fun! I have been trying a lot of new things that I was a little weary about, like this one!

Water Marbling!

I used OPI Alpine Snow as a base color. Then I used three of the four colors from the Essie Poppy-razzi collection; Lights, Camera, and Action. Now on to the photos! I included both hands in this one too!

A quick one from Holland, and then one more...

Good morning all. I apologize for the absence the last two evenings. It has been a super stressful week and it seemed to prevent me from shaking the last bit of this cold. So I took a couple of nights off to go to sleep early and try to feel normal again. Well....normal for me :) As I sit here updating at 5:30am!

I have one of the OPI Holland lacquers to share. I swatched this over the weekend and repainted my nails with Wednesday night and left that on for the rest of the week. I really enjoyed the color!

I have for you I Dont Give a Rotterdam! for you today. This is one coat, with no top coat. It is a great dusty
blue shade with a fine silver glitter.

I just picked up Vampsterdam the other night and will try to share that later this weekend.

I do have one more to share this morning, and I was very exciting to finally try this one out. This one I am sure many of you have seen a lot lately - it is such a fun sheer color its hard not to resist it.

Here is Revlon Whimsical. I used one coat with Essie Borrowed and Blue as a base coat.

I can see this going nicely with of a couple of those China Glaze Electropop colors I last swatched!

Sunday Morning Haul!

I needed to run to Target this morning to get another storage box for my nail polish and, well theres always time to walk through the cosmetics! Found a some extra goodies, one RJ spotted (Essie - Dive Bar) and remembered how much I liked it. You read that right, my fiance remembered one of the colors I wanted by name! I almost fell over! Hahaha!

Heres what I brought home;
Nicole by OPI - Love Your Life & One Big Happy Fame-ily
Revlon - 051 Starry Pink,
Essie - Wrapped in Rubies & Dive Bar,
and Sally Hansen Cuticle Eraser + Balm

First off RJ picked up the Sally Hansen Cuticle Eraser + Balm for me after I read Jessika's review on her blog; Polish Insomniac HERE. I had seen this in the store about a week ago, then she posted her great review and I was sold! I haven't had the chance to try it out today, but I plan on it tomorrow when I change my mani. If you have the time, and haven't yet - check our her reviews. They are very well done and extremely helpful!

Now on to the polish! I was able to swatch a few of these while watching the game today. Enjoy!

I started with Essie Dive Bar.
This was one I had seen swatched a while ago and just loved it! This is two coats with no topcoat. Pardon the messiness of these. My headache hadn't gone away at this point and I didn't realize how bad it was until I uploaded the pictures.

I then topped these off with a coat of  OPI Nicki Minaj - Save Me

I am really pleased with this color, and super happy that RJ spotted it! This also has a green and purple hue to it depending on your lighting - but those pictures appeared too dark to tell on screen. My camera seems to favor the color blue and likes to pick that out. I also really like Save Me, the long holographic flakes are very fun. It makes a nice addition to dark colors - I can see using it a lot in the future!

Next up is Essie Wrapped in Rubies.
This is just a beautiful color! Its red with a copper hue, definitely reminded me of old pennies. It has small noticeable glitter in colors of pink, brass, and red along with a fine shimmer.

Because of the copper feel it had I couldnt resist topping it with Sephora by OPI - Traffic Copper Stopper and was very pleased with the combination!

Stay tuned for swatches of the Revlon - Starry Pink, Julep - Megan, and Nicole by OPI - Love Your Life tomorrow night.

Monday Haul!

What a better way to start the week than with a Lacquer run!

I had been waiting for my local Ulta to put out Butter London's new Spring line so I could try out Slapper. We got there this evening and couldn't find it anywhere - the fall line was still featured! They had it in their ad to be out Sunday. So we found someone and asked and she said that might have it in the back and haven't put it out yet. She asked what color I was looking for and headed to look. Slightly bummed and very hopeful she returned with it in her hand! I was pretty stoked - she gave strange look to my reaction! We figured that she just didn't get it! Hehe! As always I had to dig through their clearance shelves to find and Essie that we really liked. On the way out RJ looked back to find that Layla had a display. He asked, "Isn't that the magnetic nail polish you were talking about before?" I ran over and had to get one to try out, and I let him pick the color. Here is what I took home that night.
Butter London - Slapper, Essie - Your Hut or Mine,
China Glaze - Some Like it Haute, Layla - 11 Silver Galaxy

I've swatched Slapper for now, and I had some fun with it. Please excuse the mess along a couple nails. Did this quickly because i was excited to share! This is my second Butter London lacquer and once again, I just love it. I really like the awesome gloss it dries to on its own.

This is 2 coats with no topcoat - but for some reason, it seems to photograph bluer that it really is. Its definitely more of a greener teal-like color but every light I used the camera saw blue. I would say that it is very true to what you see in the bottle. This is such a fun color and it really pops. I added a coat of Finger Paints Flecked on top.

It almost seems like they were made for each other. Flecked is has a great blue-green shimmer to it and just blended with this so well. Last I added a coat of Essie Matte About You. My fiance, RJ is a fan of this top coat and he really liked the final outcome.
